For Sleep & Calm
Reishi
Ganoderma lucidum
Traditional adaptogen used to support stress recovery and restful sleep†.
The hook
Why it matters
Most people don't have a sleep problem. They have a downshift problem. The body stays in fifth gear long after the day is done, and no amount of willpower talks a revved nervous system into rest. Reishi has been used for exactly this for over two thousand years, and modern research is finally explaining why.
The evidence
What the research says
Reishi's active compounds fall into two groups: triterpenes, especially the ganoderic acids, and polysaccharides like beta-glucans. The distinction that matters for sleep is that Reishi is studied as an adaptogen that supports the body's stress response, including the HPA axis that governs cortisol, rather than as a sedative that knocks you out. It helps the system come down on its own.
A 2023 systematic review and meta-analysis examined Ganoderma lucidum in people with primary insomnia and found support for improved sleep quality, and a pilot study of Reishi spore powder pointed the same direction. The compound rationale is well-mapped: triterpenes and polysaccharides interacting with the nervous and immune systems in ways consistent with relaxation and improved rest. Separately, an 84-day randomized controlled trial of Reishi beta-glucan in healthy adults found measurable enhancement of immune cell populations, which is a reminder that this mushroom does foundational work beyond sleep alone. As with most functional mushrooms, the larger and longer human trials are still being built out, and the honest summary is that the evidence is promising and growing rather than fully settled.
We use dual-extracted fruiting body for a specific reason: Reishi's triterpenes only release in alcohol and its beta-glucans only release in water. Skip either step and you get a product that does very little. Most of the market skips one.†
Lived experience
What people report
The word people reach for with Reishi is “settle.” Not sedation, not a chemical lights-out, but the nervous system finally being allowed to come down. Taken in the evening, users describe falling asleep with less effort, the racing-mind problem easing, and waking up feeling like the night actually counted. It's the counterweight to a stimulated life, and the people who use it consistently tend to talk about it as the difference between being shut off and being able to rest.

Where you'll find it
Reishi is the heart of REM, paired with calming adaptogens to do for sleep what LOCK IN does for focus. It also appears in Digestive Orchestra and All About Movement, because stress recovery and immune balance aren't only nighttime concerns, they're part of how the body holds steady all day.
