The mycelium was here first.
Premium Functional Mushrooms that work with your biology — not against it.
Why we exist
Most "mushroom" supplements aren't actually mushrooms.
Walk into any supplement aisle and pick up a Lion's Mane bottle. Read the small print. Nine times out of ten, what you're holding is mycelium grown on sterilized rice grain — a cheap, starchy filler with almost none of the compounds the studies are actually about.
We started Rhizomatic Gardens in 2019 because we wanted the real thing. Whole fruiting bodies. Dual-extracted. Dosed at the levels the research calls for. Lot-traceable from spawn to bottle.
We don't make claims our COAs can't back up. We don't sell anything we don't take ourselves. And we keep the line small — four stacks, four jobs — because that's what it takes to make each one really good.
How we work
Four non-negotiables.
Fruiting bodies only
We never use mycelium grown on rice. The mushroom you'd recognize in the woods is the only thing that ends up in the bottle.
Dual-extracted
Hot water for the beta-glucans, food-grade alcohol for the triterpenes. Both fractions, every batch — the way the research actually calls for.
Third-party tested
Every lot is screened for beta-glucan content, heavy metals, microbials, and species ID. The COA is published with the lot number.
Small batch, US grown
One Pacific Northwest grow facility. Four stacks. Four jobs. We keep the line small because that's what it takes to make each one really good.

The grow room
Grown on hardwood. Not rice.
Our fruiting blocks are sterilized hardwood and supplemental nutrition — the substrate these species actually evolved to colonize. We pin under filtered air, harvest by hand, and dry within hours of pulling them off the block to lock in the volatile compounds.
No grain co-extraction. No starch padding the powder weight. What goes in the extractor is the mushroom itself.

The extraction
Hot water and alcohol. Both, every batch.
The active compounds in functional mushrooms split between two solvents. Beta-glucans (the immune-modulating polysaccharides) only come out in hot water. Triterpenes (the calming, adaptogenic fraction in Reishi and Chaga) only come out in alcohol.
A single-solvent extract leaves half the mushroom on the bench. Every Rhizomatic Gardens stack gets the full dual extract, concentrated and reunited before bottling — so what's on the label is what's in the bottle.
The story
From three jars to four stacks.
- 2019
Chapter 01
Three jars in a garage
Started with grain spawn, a still-air box, and a stubborn belief that the supplement aisle was lying about what was actually in the bottle.
- 2021
Chapter 02
First fruiting-body harvest
Moved into a small grow room in the Pacific Northwest. First commercial harvest of Lion's Mane and Reishi — dual-extracted by hand.
- 2023
Chapter 03
Lab partnership
Began third-party testing every lot for beta-glucan content, heavy metals, and species identity. Published the COAs publicly with each batch.
- Today
Chapter 04
Four stacks. Honest doses.
